Shepherds of the Flock of Christ or Murderers?

When I read this sermon, I could not help but think of my experience with one of ravening wolves that Christ foretold would come among the sheep once He had left. I hope that you enjoy this:

…their miserable moral precepts for a virtuous life …

https://i0.wp.com/gnesiolutheran.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/images-51.jpegJesus says regarding Himself: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father but by Me.” John 14, 6 Peter confirms this statement by his declaration before the Jewish Sanhedrin, saying: “Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4, 12 Paul adds his testimony by telling his Corinthians: “ I determined not to know anything among you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” I Cor 2, 2. Verily, then, it is a great and awful sin not to draw any soul that has been entrusted to us for instruction to Jesus and not to tell that soul again and again what a treasure it has in the Lord Jesus, its Savior. To keep some one from believing in Christ is such an awful sin that words cannot express it. A preacher who restrains a soul from confidently laying hold of Christ — no matter whether he does it consciously or unconsciously, purposely or from blindness, through malice or as the result of a perverted zeal for the salvation of souls — deprives that soul, as far as he is concerned, of everlasting life. Instead of being a shepherd to that soul, he becomes a ravening wolf to it; instead of being its physician, he becomes its murderer; yea, instead of being an angel of God, he becomes a devil to that person. Alas, ever so many preachers have not realized until their dying day how many souls they have kept away from Christ by their unevangelical preaching and by their own fault have cause the souls entrusted to them to die of spiritual starvation. The result was that these unhappy preachers shortly before their death have had a severe soul-battle to fight with self-accusations and despair, and not a few of them have depaarted this life without consolation, in anguish, misery, and despair.

The worst offenders in this respect are the so-called rationalistic preachers, who with diabolical audacity mount Christian pulpits and instead of preaching Christ, the Savior, to all sinners, recite their miserable moral precepts for a virtuous life and fill the ears of the people with their empty bombast. To these rationalistic mercenaries, “whose God is their belly,” Phil 3, 19 the terrible woe is addressed, even in our day, which the Lord denounced, saying: “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.” Matt 23, 13. What terror shall seize these preachers who used to call themselves friends and adorers of Jeus Christ when they must appear before His judgement-seat and hear Him address them in words of flaming anger: “I never knew you; depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.” Matt 7, 23.

However, equally grievous is the offense of papists in this respect. They, too, do not draw men to Christ, the Savior and Friend of sinners, but represent Christ as a more rigorous lawgiver even than Moses because he has laid on men many more and much more rigorous commandments than Moses. A poor sinner coming to a priest in his anguish for advice is not directed to Christ, but to Mary, the so-called “Mother of Mercy”. They have taught men to be afraid of Christ, telling them that Mary must take them under her sheltering cloak. Or they direct them to some tutelary saint. For this horrible sin of directing poor souls away from Christ they will have to suffer the wrath of God, which will consign them to the place where “the smoke of their torment ascendeth up forever and ever.” Rev 14, 11 For failing to teach and proclaim Christ, telling men not to believe in Him, is as heinous an offense as blasphemously to brand Christ as a fanatic as the unbelievers do.

Well, it is easy to avoid this gross manner of keeping men away from Christ. I need not warn you against it. But it is difficult to avoid doing the same thing in a more refined manner. Innumerable preachers imagined that they were preaching Christ and proclaiming His doctrine until their eyes were opened and they saw that they had concealed Christ from the eyes of poor sinners and had directed men away from Him rather than to Him.

This is a very useful link for refuting this pernicious fraud.

This is Why I Want Ron Paul for President

According to  conservativeactionalerts:

Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul says he would rather look to God – “the original king” and creator – than to the government as a model for moral values. Addressing the Values Voters Summit in Washington D.C. on Saturday, Paul said it was in his view “impossible” to get morality from the government. Instead it comes from individuals, families, churches, and God. “But I prefer the different king, the original king, the instruction that comes from our creator, not from our government,” he continued. “Our government should be strictly limited to the protection of the liberties that allow us to thrive.”

This is the kind of man and Christian that I want for president, a man who is not afraid to proclaim the supremacy of God our King. If your candidate is not saying this and believing this you should ask why not?

A Great Woman Has Passed

VDARE.COM’s Appeal Update, And Elizabeth Wright Remembrance | VDARE.com.

No wonder the buildings shook in New York yesterday. Elizabeth Wright is dead. I am strangely saddened at the passing of someone I only knew through e-mail correspondence and through her brilliant, piercing and erudite writing.

We became friends years ago on a Southern Heritage e-mail list. It was somewhat odd that a Black woman from New York City would have an interest in such a list. It soon became apparent that she had a different perspective that that of most Blacks.

She was convinced that in the Southern White man lay the Black race’s best chance for a square deal. She loved the ideals of the old Republic and it’s Constitution. The Southern White men she contended were the only group of Americans who as a whole still talked about the Constitution, who still cared about the founding ideals. She felt that her future and her people’s future would be safer under the government of a people who still supported the rule of law than under the caprices of the current system.

She came to my defense, when I was accused of being a racist on that list by a certain person who has a mythical and a-historic view of the Old South. He skulked off the list yet, he still maintains his slanders to this day. Yet I would rather count her my friend than get the approval of a such a confused character assassin any day.

She was very proud of her race and what they had accomplished before the Liberals and LBJ destroyed the progress Blacks had made in the so-called bad old days of Jim Crowe.  In the 1950’s Blacks were at the height of intact families, single-family home ownership, low rates of bastardy and high levels of business ownership. All of this she documented on her web site Issues and Views.  All of that came to an end with the grossly mis-named Great Society.

I am very sad that she has passed from the scene. I hope that you will go and read her writings so that you can appreciate what has been lost.

Obama Eyes 401K and IRAs for Government Control and Theft | Ron Paul 2012 | Sound Money, Peace and Liberty

Obama Eyes 401K and IRAs for Government Control and Theft | Ron Paul 2012 | Sound Money, Peace and Liberty.

Read this article if you want to know where the government will go to get the cash they need for the next fix. Like a pathetic junkie, they will do anything to avoid the grinding pain of going cold-turkey. If congress denies the junkie his fix, well, he has already been scoping out the big pile of pension fund money and your 401k’s.

The Dear Obama is more like the Shop Steward in Chief of the Union (that is no idle word there). You already know what the union always does with pension funds don’t you? Easy pickin’s.

Now you might have an idea why gold and silver have become such hot investments.

It’s Not Repression when We Do It

“The government systematically repressed citizens’ ability to change their government. The security forces committed arbitrary or unlawful killings, caused politically motivated disappearances, and tortured and physically abused prisoners and detainees with impunity. Security forces arrested and detained individuals under poor conditions without due process. Lengthy pretrial and incommunicado detention remained a serious problem. The judiciary was not independent. There were political prisoners and detainees, and during the year the government sentenced to prison several high-profile members of the human rights and civil society communities. The government violated citizens’ privacy rights. The government imposed severe restrictions on civil liberties: freedoms of speech and press, including Internet and academic freedom; freedoms of assembly and of association . . .”

You would be forgiven if you thought that this quote was about our post-Ruby Ridge, post-Waco, post-Oklahoma City, post-Patriot Act, post-America America. Actually this is taken from a State Department, 2010 Human Rights Report: Syria, from the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor 2010 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices from April 8, 2011.

So the Syrians it seems are protesting against these conditions that are a result of  “emergency laws”  that they have been suffering under for almost fifty years. They have been told that due to the emergency caused by the troubles with Israel they would have to put up with secret courts, warrantless searches, secret trials and endless detention until the current crisis is over. Did I mention it was for their security? Is this ringing a familiar bell with any body? Is it going to take us fifty years of the ill-named Patriot Act before we are in the streets like the Syrians are?

What rich irony that we, the greatest Democracy in the world, publish a paper detailing the human rights abuses in Syria and it is impossible to tell that this paper is not talking about the United States but Syria.

HK on Speaking Tour in SC

Here’s a headline: “My good friend HK gets a biased news report in the Columbia Daily Herald!” Of course that’s not really news. He has been defamed by much more important fish-wrappers than the Daily Herald.

This little hit piece which mentions HK, Kirk Lyons and me, has upon it all the greasy fingerprints of Mark Potock, chief shill for the $PLC, a non-civil rights profit organization. It is a mark of shallow journalism to run to and get any quotes from this discredited Leftist front organization.

I am proud to be mentioned in the same article with these two men, although this piece of scribbling hardly deserves the name of “article.” What he fails to mention in writing about the allegedly infamous “Napkin Incident” is that it was a light-harted moment in an otherwise serious meeting. Kirk and I were having our first meeting with HK who was then the president and representative of the NAACP in Asheville.

At that meeting we were discussing how to go about persuading the Ku Klux Klan not to carry out their threat to return to Asheville and recreate their recent march through downtown. They promised that if they did not receive police protection this time and if the cops allowed Communist agitators and AIDS infected Sodomites to spit at them and throw batteries at them, that they would make what happened at Greensboro, NC look like a picnic. They were referring to the 1979 shoot-out that took place between the Communists and a coalition of  Klan and neo-Nazi members in Greensboro at a “Death to the Klan” rally. Unfortunately for the Reds, it turned into a death to the Communists rally.

We were asked by the mayor’s office (unofficially of course and through back channels) to see what we could do to help prevent the threatened mayhem. Neither Kirk nor I had any connection to the Klan but we agreed to lend our expertise in far-Right groups to see what we could do to help.

One of the things that first impressed me about HK was his attitude about the whole situation. He said that he thought the Klan had a constitutional right to march, but under the circumstances and considering the heightened rhetoric that it would be better if they could be persuaded to postpone the planned second march. We agreed that it would be best and Kirk said that he would try to find a way to contact them and negotiate a cooling off period.

That meeting was the beginning of a long and interesting friendship with HK. We found that he was just as passionate about individual liberty, personal responsibility and the Bill of Rights as we were. We had never met before and  shoddy propaganda in the Asheville Citizen-Times similar in tone to this wretched news piece, had made HK think that he had made an appointment with the Devil. Instead we found much that we agreed upon and that we liked each other very well.

Unfortunately, they require a subscription to view the original story, but just take my word for it, it’s not worth it.
